My husband and I love visiting historic homes, and this gem is in the center of downtown Bristol. Lovely rooms, artworks and original family furnishings. A must-see!

Built in 1810, Linden Place magnificently reflects the prosperity of the DeWolf merchant princes and the exquisite taste inspired by the architecture of ancient Greece and Rome. Visitors see one of the best examples of Federal architecture, from the Palladian windows to the fluted Corinthian columns, which flank the front entrance and the four-story spiral staircase. Tour highlights include tales of DeWolf family exploits, from their privateering and slave trading to their financial ruin and triumphant return to prosperity during Victorian times. Docents introduce visitors to family members Pomeroy Colt, founder of United States Rubber, now Uniroyal, his mother Theodora DeWolf Colt, who as Madam Colt ran Bristol Society from Linden Place as if she were Queen Victoria and the great actress Ethel Barrymore who married in to this most prominent of American families. Visitors are also welcome to stroll the sculpture-filled gardens where they will find Greek bronzes and an 18th Century gazebo.

If you go to Bristol, then you must visit Linden Place. Not as grand as Newport's mansions, but still beautifully kept, and very interesting. And, the few bucks you pay for the visit contribute to keep that place in good shape.
Great house with an interesting history and you can get up and close to everything. Highly recommended to visit. Was not at all crowded for us.
This is the perfect place to have your daughter's summer wedding. The gardens are beautiful. You choose the catering co. You can have cocktails and finger food on the sprawling green lawn and then join everyone inside for the main course. The setting is quite elegant. You can have your company Xmas party indoors, or you can have 4th of...

Great venue for weddings. This historical landmark makes for quite the lovely backdrop for photos for friend and family gatherings!
Hidden jewel. Delightful historic home with tours, great wedding venue and musical events throughout the year.
This small mansion gives you insight into history and how a successful family lived, as opposed to the mega-wealthy families of Newport. The architecture is interesting, the rooms are well-curated with good exhibits and explanatory signs, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the gift shop is well worth a visit.
We got to Linden Place about 20 minutes before it was going to close but the staff offered to stay a little late to let us explore this gem of a mansion. We are so thankful that they did as it is so different than the mansions in Newport. It dates back to an earlier time and is wonderfully kept...

This little gem is located in the historic town of Bristol, RI. What a great piece of history close to the water. Try an early afternoon tour followed by a ride on the bike path and some clam cakes on the water.
We recently attended a beautiful wedding here. New England hospitality paired with beautiful surrounding makes for a perfect place for a wedding. So glad we had an opportunity to enjoy this place.
